Michigan Peat has been in business for over 50 years and is now seeking skilled individuals to join our team as a Heavy Equipment Operator / Excavator Operator. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating an excavator to efficiently and safely complete assigned tasks. This position is not limited to excavator only; however, it will be a primary function.

This position can shift between our locations, either in Sandusky, MI or our Minden City, MI location, as assigned.

Responsibilities:

· Operate an excavator as directed.

· Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety

· Follow instructions to complete tasks efficiently and accurately

· Adhere to all safety procedures and assist with other tasks as needed

· Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers to coordinate work activities and ensure project goals are met

Qualifications:

· Proven experience operating an excavator (2+ years preferred)

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

· Strong understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures.

· Strong awareness of safety practices in industrial or agricultural settings

· Reliable transportation to and from the worksite

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Monday to Saturday – 6am to 630pm
  • Overtime

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 72 per week
