Shift Hours:  6:00am - 2:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY

The individual responsible for this role will participate in the production and/or packaging processes of various manufactured products. The Packer position serves as a supportive role for multiple areas within the distribution process, which may include quality control and assembly, among others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform packaging operations based on customer orders
  • Effectively operate packaging machinery
  • Ensure timely completion of packaging orders
  • Clean machines and work area at the end of each shift
  • Generate and submit daily reports on work order completion to the supervisor
  • Manually load bags and cartons onto pallets as necessary
  • Modify packaging and weigh bags to meet customer specifications
  • Carry out production tasks such as manual lifting, packaging, taping, labeling, and sorting
  • Prepare labels for shipment in accordance with work orders and customer requirements
  • Verify label accuracy in terms of quantity
  • Notify the supervisor of any shortages
  • Adhere to packaging guidelines and accepted methods/practices for labeling and shipping
  • Maintain product stock in the work area
  • Organize work orders and ensure they correspond accurately to the labeled items
  • Read work orders and verify that the materials pulled for packaging match the requirements
  • Confirm the alignment of all numbers with the work order
  • Make necessary adjustments to work orders if there is a shortage of materials, based on the work order specifications
  • Participate in a collaborative work environment utilizing effective communication and willingness to cross train to enhance team productivity, versatility, and skill development
  • Comply with comprehensive safety protocols and participate in ongoing training to ensure a secure work environment and maintain a safety-conscious culture
  • Follow all 5S principles and guidelines daily to optimize workflow, efficiency, and a clean work environment
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities and tasks as directed by management

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, & Skills required)

  • Preferred: High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification; 1 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities
  • Capable of following instructions and responding to management direction
  • Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Exhibits experience working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Has the ability to read and interpret various documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Possesses effective verbal communication skills

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employee to successfully perform the Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Standing Must be able to frequently remain in a stationary position
  • Walking, Reaching and Handling Must be able to frequently move about inside the warehouse to access product and machinery, etc. Must be able to stand and walk 60% of time, lift up to 40 lbs. normal, up to 70 lbs. less than 10% of time.
  • Seeing Frequently reads various documents and operates computer and other office tools/databases/equipment.
  • Talking and Hearing Frequently communicates with colleagues, co-workers, and customers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Manual Dexterity Frequently operates a computer and warehouse machinery
